Former UP chairman of Talam Union Parishad and general secretary of the union Awami League, Abdul Khalek, has been arrested in Tarash, Sirajganj. Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to police sources, a case was filed with Tarash Police Station on November 11 in connection with the beating and attempted murder of Sabbir Khandaker, son of Saiful Islam, a representative of the anti-discrimination student movement Anandolan. He was arrested from his home in Borai Charavengri village of Talam union of the upazila on Monday evening in that case. In addition, he is a warranted defendant in a case related to a fight in his own village.
Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Hossain said that Abdul Khalek, who was arrested on Tuesday morning, was sent to court.
